Skipped breakfast this morning. Couldn't sleep, so I was tough to get up. Worked through the morning coffee break I never take, but was considering doing for once in order to chow down on a Snickers bar. At least till I got so tied up even this was not possible. Friend of mine offered to grab lunch somewhere together, provided that it was a place that took credit cards 'cause she was broke. And I could really use a pick-me-up.
So, nothing beats a trip to the local all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet. Especially when you're both starving and lonely...hey, it's cheaper than a skin bar and the waitresses are actually far cuter than the girls at Hooters. My favorite waitress was there as well, first time I've seen her in a while. Tried to chat her up a little bit, because she's absolutely adorable and because it really is fun to talk to her even without ulterior motives.
Problem is, the coworker that wanted to grab lunch (another member of the Project Team mentioned a few moments ago) was female. So when the waitress smiled at me and asked if I wanted a table for one, sweet tea and a buffet - as always - I shocked and confused her when I asked for a table for two. And that look only became more befuddled when it was a female in tow. *sigh* Ah well.
Truth be told, I never had a chance anyway. More that my wishful thinking wants to imagine that that natural surprise was due to something more than just breaking a tradition several years in the making. But I'm just making a quick note of it here, because it was kind of an amusing moment. Though a touch awkward, with one girl watching as I flirted so unabashedly with another who was stunned that I showed up with another woman.
