I don't know who I'm more pissed off with - Paris Hilton or the legal system in general.
Look. She got a slap on the wrist the first time. "Normal People" would have been busted for DUI or something without a second thought, but she only gets probation for reckless driving. She violates that? Another super-light sentence because she's somehow more important than any of us commoners: a 45 day stay in what you already know is going to be a minimum security cakewalk that's so nice it'd make my college dorm look like some ancient dungeon or torture chamber.
And now? She doesn't even have to put up with that. Prison was too unpleasant for her, so now she gets to spend her time trapped in her mansion full of gourmet chefs and hot tubs and whatever the fuck else millionaire heiresses surround themselves with. Next thing you know, she's going to demand that her ankle bracelet be studded with jewels that match whatever designer outfit she's wearing at the time.
I mean FUCK, man! Where does it end?
News flash, bitch. Prison isn't supposed to be comfortable. It's PRISON! It's supposed to be a punishment, something so undesirable that you actually obey the law you apparently think you're above just because your daddy's got more money than God. It reminds me of parents who refuse to whip their kids when they act up, and instead "punish" them by sending them to their rooms. Rooms with surround sound stereos, next-gen gaming consoles, laptop computers, cell phones, HDTV with 200 channels and whatnot. Yeah, some punishment indeed...
And what's even worse than one rich bitch getting her way is that this sets a dangerous legal precedent that any celebrity can get their way, do whatever the fuck they wanna do, and not have to pay any sort of meaningful consequences for their actions. Mattress too hard? Cafeteria food give you a tummy ache? Your cell window doesn't have a decent view? Aw, poor baby...those all sound like valid reasons to get out of jail free. Why don't you just go home and think about what you've done. Isn't that punishment enough? </sargasm>
Apparently, it's true that some people are more equal than others. And that's not right. I demand equality. I demand fairness. I demand JUSTICE! Why can't there be some costumed superhero vigilante a la Batman or the Punisher that dedicates their lives to hunting folks like that down and making them pay for their crimes? But I digress. Expecting there to be real celebrities in real prisons is definitely confusing fiction with reality...
