My costume looked all right I suppose. Hair wasn't quite long enough to look exactly right, but I managed to get it close. Not much I could do about that, with the Cosplay Night being announced on such short notice. Was still fun, though, and a decent dress rehersal for AWA. Only problem was that everyone else peeled out of their costumes after the first hour. Not much I could do about mine, since I dyed my hair instead of just slipping on a wig. (I really need to work on some other cosplays, though. Can't show up as Tasuki each and every time. I need to find the parts and pieces to my Tuxedo Kamen outfit and finish up what I need for Kyo, and hopefully get some ideas for other characters to do.)
We had two new shows premier last night: Midori no Hibi and Haibane Renmei. I've heard of the first one before, but it just sounded bizzare. A show about a guy with a girl for a hand?!? Didn't think I was going to be a fan. But that show kicks ASS. I love both the main characters. The male lead is much like Tasuki or Kyo or Inuyasha or any of the other fellas that I kind of relate to. He's the tough guy that can't really express himself too well, and has this duality between what people see and think about him versus what he wants and how he sees himself. The female lead is so adorably cute and sweet that you immediately start feeling sorry for her. I caught myself almost wishing that I could meet a girl like that...until I remembered that she was COMING OUT OF HIS HAND. But that kind of says something in and of itself, that you can care about a character in such a short time and despite such a weird, weird thing to have to accept.
Haibane Renmei looks very promising. I like the feel to it. I like the animation style and the characters and what I can tell so far of the world that it takes place in. But, unlike Midori, it's a lot slower to develop. I can't say anything about the plot thus far, and with only 13 episodes I wonder how much time they have to do anything besides portray an interesting group of people. Of course, the first two episodes of Gunslinger Girl didn't immediately hook me and now it's one of my all-time faves, so we'll just have to wait and see.
Lesse, what else happened? The club's resident Auburn fan wanted to see my University of Alabama class ring. That rocked - even those damned dirty Tigers are in awe of the awesomeness that is the Alabama Crimson Tide. They rarely show it, but deep down they know that we kick ass. Roll Tide, baby. Roll Fucking Tide.
Another highlight was when Robby-kun almost gave Kellie a heart attack. We were talking about something, then he comes flying across the room in true ninja glory. Seemed like he was fifteen or twenty feet in the air...I'm sure some of that was an optical illusion, but he got some serious hangtime. Dunno what he launched himself off of, but the lil' dude dove off of something and sailed over the stadium seating like he was Rey Mysterio. Landed dead center between me and her, and despite being a good three feet away he had her staggering back almost to the stage. Thought for a minute there she was gonna have a heart attack. I suppose I can't describe it well; you just had to have been there. But take my word for it when I say that it was pretty fucking awesome. ::smirk::
Besides that, the Crawleys showed up for the first time in a coon's age. That rocked - it's good to hear that things are starting to work out for those two.
Of course, two other friends of mine just screwed up their knees so bad that they can hardly walk. That sucks. So get better soon, Cameron and Dani-chan!
Not much else happening, I suppose. Braves won last night. Yay. Braves just lost a few minutes ago. Booooooo. Still just a game and a half back of the Nats, though, so that's a good thing. My new cell phone came in yesterday. (I'm sure RJ will be pissed when he hears that). It was cool getting a brand new piece of hardware. It feels more solid, more firm for some reason. And the spring that snaps the monitor into place is nice and new. I wanted to take good care of it since I was lucky enough to get a new one without any wear and tear. But, of course, I had to screw it up somehow. I accidentally put my Miso membership card into the same pocket. It's a laminated piece of paper on a soft lanyard. It can't hurt anything. But I forgot that the two were attached by a nice, big, metal hook. So the back of my shiny new Sidekick is already carved up. I'm damn glad it was the plastic casing instead of the screen, but still. ::shrugs::
Feeling a little better than I have been this past week. I'm not sad or mopey or depressed. I'm not really all that emotional. I ain't asking for things to be handed to me on a silver platter, and I damn sure ain't giving up. But on the other hand, I'm just damn tired of always having to deal with shit, you know? I don't think it's being excessive to want there to be a break in the action. There's only so much bad news that one person can recieve before they just clench their fists and cry out with anger. It's times like these when I wish I still was an active martial artist. I'd give anything to fight right now. Nothing could make me happier than burying my fist into someone or something. I don't really want to hurt anyone; I'm still the guy that'll do anything and everything to protect others and help them out however I'm able. I just want a target to unleash my rage upon.
Junior's in the top ten. Laps are winding down, so lemme log off of here and make sure my boy wins him another one. I'll hop back on later.
