Bama Eyes, Bama Staredown

Viva, Las Vegas!

As we speak, my folks are probably heading towards the airport. Some head honcho guy at work didn't feel like attending this year's big convention. And despite the usual unluck that accompanies our family, Dad ended up being the one chosen to fill in for him. They originally was just going to call it off and not send anyone, but instead it was arranged so that not only does Dad get to go, but he's still getting paid to go to Vegas and go on one helluva cool vacation with Mom. I'm happy for them - they're real excited to go off and get away from it all for a while.

You two take care now. Drive safe, be careful, don't stay up too late, don't to anything to shame me, wash behind your ears, eat your vegetables.... ::chuckles::

Welcome to my Nightmare...

WalMart was CRAY-ZEE today. EVERYONE was out there buying shit. The college crowd I didn't mind, but for some reason it musta been kids day or something - little rugrats were everywhere. Running. Jumping. SCREAMING. Crying. Climbing things. Good thing that I just got back from watching one hellafied cool movie. Otherwise Nash's Id might have taken over, and I would have screamed at the top of my lungs while ramming into the little brats at full speed with my shopping card, slamming them down like bowling pins.

Yeah, compared to the living nightmare of all the screaming little ankle-biters, the horror movie wasn't scary at all. ^_^;

The movie was OMFG good though! Wow. It wasn't so wild that it reinvented the age-old genre, but it did have a bit of a different feel to it, and that I liked. As far as who won? Well, without spoiling anything, you already know two things going into the movie:

1) Neither one is really going to kill the other one off. That's one of the fundamentles of all slasher flicks - the unkillable evil truly is unkillable.
2) Since there's so many Freddy fans and so many Jason fans, they wouldn't have done the movie if one of them completely pwned the other one. That would have completely pissed off one-half of the attending crowd.

Collapse )

All in all, I think the movie was done really well. Both Jason and Freddy had a number of great scenes, and I'm pretty sure that fans of both sides will walk away from this one pleased. After Scream and all the other teen movies posing as slasher flicks, it's good to see one done so awesomely. Besides, crossovers rarely happen, so this is a dream come true for all the folks who've debated this hypothetical match endlessly since sometime in the 80's.

Conclusion: It's a slasher flick. If you're into them though, it's a must see. If not, it's still a decent action movie. Not really all that horrific, but lots of great fight scenes between these two movie legends.

Live Action Sailor Moon, take 3(?)

Looks like there's about to be a live action Sailor Moon show airing in Japan. Thankfully, it's not the Disney-ed up US version that fell flat on it's ass or the Saban bastardization that still keeps me awake at night. ::shudders::

Here's the site. Too bad I don't speak Japanese. Yet. (Another site can be found here, that has a pic and writeup for each of the five Inner Senshi.)

Despite my better judgement, and the memories of how bad that promo for Saban's Sailor Moon ripoff, this adaptation looks fairly keen. Rumor has it that it's going to be "over the top", which it prolly the best way to do it. If it took itself too seriously I doubt it'd fare as well.

Anyway, feel free to check out the site if you're a closet moonie like myself, or just curious in general. Cute animations on the page, but I'm still browsing it for screenshots. Saw a color group pic, and if you click Rei-chan you'll end up on a bio page that features each character's mugshot. Looks interesting so far, to say the least. ^_^

Of course, the skeptic in me says that that it's got a pretty good chance of being as bad as the bombshells that we've narrowly missed. Even if it does turn out that way, two good things will come of it. Firstly, it's being shown overseas, and won't ruin the reputation of good Anime here in the States like the Saban one would have if it had ever aired on afternoon TV. Secondly, perhaps it will put Usagi and the gang back on the spotlight if nothing else. The Senshi kinda got bumped from first-name recognition once DBZ caught on over on Cartoon Network.

::crosses fingers and hopes for the best::

Spiff-tastic! (Just for kicks, I also tried my other favorite color - Red. Turns out that my other past life was that of a Stuntman, and I had 70 people show up for the funeral. Much fun.)
