Can't really say much about what I've been up to. Keeping to myself, mostly. Though I did watch the Ortiz/Shamrock fight tonight. And was highly pissed off.
Sure, as much as I hate to admit it, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" was pretty much the underdog. Already lost to Ortiz once (not counting the complete bullshit that was their second fight, which was also scored as a loss against Ken). Plus he's an old man whereas Tito's the young guy that's the future of mixed martial arts. All that being said, I was somewhat shocked to hear the entire fucking arena BOOING Ken Shamrock. He's a fucking Hall of Famer, for cryin' out loud! One of the best EVER! Even if he's in his very last match, past his prime and on the way out the door, you'd think he'd get some respect. Hell, most athletes get standing ovation when it's their last game/match/event/whatever. Grr.
Also tuned into ECW afterwards, for lack of anything else on TV after UFC. Their current promotion was some kind of Extreme Diva Strip Poker event, so heavily publicized that even my mother saw the commercials and had to ask me "Erm...what exactly does strip poker have to do with wrestling?" Heh. (The answer, of course, is that Vince McMahon doesn't have the slightest fucking clue what to do anymore, and doesn't care because he ain't got any serious competition. Yet.) And I thought it'd either be a lame gimmick that they ran instead of a match. Nah, instead they had it on split-screen much of the night, so that you barely could even see the actual 'wrestling'.
Not that the matches were very good either...Matt Striker's got about the worst gimmick I've ever seen. Right up there with other vocational gimmicks as Issac Yankem the Evil Dentist. So basically, trashy skanks took up half the time (and half the screen) with bad lines and equally bad boob jobs, and the other half was filled with the rejects like Striker, Show, and Test that couldn't cut it on Raw. Or Smackdown. Or HEAT, for cryin' out loud. Yeah, I know the only reason I gave in and watched an ep of "The New Breed" of ECW was to laugh at it and mock it mercilessly. Just didn't expect it to be as bad as it was. =P
That's it for now. For those of you keeping score at home, the Marriage on the Midway contest ends tomorrow at midnight. I'll post the results here as soon as I hear them. To those of you helping to vote on Buck and Jessica's behalf, I can't thank y'all enough, and keep up the good work. For the rest of you? Tomorrow's the last day to jump on the bandwagon - after that, I promise I'll stop nagging y'all for a while. Vote early, Vote often, thanks for all the help so far, and let's just try to keep it up for one more day.
That's all I got to say for now, so I'm back quiet.
